Humans
Overview:
Originating from the planet Earth in the Sol system, humans are the newest race to have expanded beyond their home world into the galaxy. After discovering a Prothean data cache on Mars in 2148, they branched further out into space and found the Charon Relay orbiting Pluto. The discovery of this relay opened the human race to intergalactic travel, and humans responded by immediately and aggressively expanding into the universe. Over a span of roughly thirty years, humans have managed to claim enough nebulae in space to account for about one-sixth of the known galaxy.
Culture:
Humans are typically viewed as intelligent, adaptable, ambitious, and unpredictable. They are extremely curious, and aggressive in advancing themselves geographically, technologically, scientifically, and politically. Despite the fact that the percentage of humans which volunteer for the military is extremely small in comparison to other races, their armed forces are considered to be one of the strongest in the galaxy. Humanity's persistent curiosity has made other races wary of them. Though they have treaties and get along with a couple races, humans have no political allies. They do, however, have a couple rivals and enemies -- particularly Batarians. Their economy is much smaller than that of the other races, but is still extremely powerful relative to its size.
