Perseus Veil
[Redacted]
*******
Gunfire blasted over my head as I clung to one of the crates separating me from them. It were moments like these that I truly wondered what the hell I was really doing here, why do I put myself in such situations? Was there something distinctly wrong with the way my brain functioned, or am I some kind of penguin lord whose mental faculties get disabled the moment the word ‘pebble’ comes to mind?
They were all solid questions, but I didn’t have any answers sadly. So instead I kept firing, blaster, standard-issue, military-grade. Not that this was a military operation, far from it… nobody had a clue I was hanging around in this part of the galaxy and good too. Had they known… heh. Let’s not think about that for now, enough time to worry when I got myself outta here.
Heads-up display showed me a vague approximation of my surroundings, could see the red blips signifying the Geth- feth they were coming in again. That was the problem with these droid fuckers, they don’t care about their own casualties, as far as I can see on my display? They are functionally immortal, feeds running outta the platform the moment I kill one of ‘em.
Ain’t good. I grabbed one of my EMPs, punched it in and threw out over my shoulder. Didn’t stop to see if it worked or not, instead I dropped into a run away from them.
Map showed there was some kind of testing lab in my vicinity, might be able to find something there that can help. Hell, maybe even a terminal that is sliceable.

Though Myriad's mission was a solo one the platform was not the only one in the patrol ship it inhabited. Five hundred and thirteen programs agreed starting on a patrol vessel and acquiring a new ship to better travel outside the Perseus Veil. Another ship came from the Terminus system, as it seemed they always did. By the agreement of the ship's collective it was agreed that the vessel harbored hostile intent, and was shot down and docked with. Initial platforms were disabled as the doors opened, and it seemed the Geth Ship had a boarder. The number of hostiles was uncertain, but Myriad was prepared for this type of event. Legion, Myriad's prototype and superior had to undergo many a hostile situation, and programs that made efficient tactical decisions were chosen as a result. Disabling the hostile would not prove difficult.
Following after the organic, a human it seemed, Myriad's group intelligence was diminished a bit as a result of three platforms and roughly four hundred programs being taken offline by an EMP grenade. Rather than reboot them Myriad let them go, they'd reboot automatically in time, but isolating the organic target was time sensitive. Deemed a priority by five hundred and thirty one programs. Seeing the organic bolt from his position Myriad raises his weapon and opens fire. That kinetic shielding could only last so long.

Electromagnetic Pulse… mine, it was a thing. Probably. It would be waiting for any pesky droids trying to come after me, didn’t care, my shield was at twenty-three percent after all that fire exchanging. Would need some time to prep it back up and while that was happening I couldn’t use my cloak.
So I kept running, didn’t hear any explosions yet, so either the Geth had noticed the mine or they weren’t in any hurry. Was guessing on the second one, this was their ship, they knew exactly what was where and could probably calculate the exact chance where I was going next.
Jumped into lab’s laboratory and shut the door behind me. Looked all over the place, until I settled on one of the consoles. Ran at it, skidded to a halt and started cracking on it.
Wasn’t sure if this would work out, but hey. Can’t blame a guy for trying.
As Myriad chased the human it noticed the man stop and fidget with . . . something. With Myriad's single flashlight-camera-apparatus it could not visualize exactly what the man was doing but with him stopping in the middle of being fired upon it made seven hundred sixty two programs believe he was setting some sort of trap. One hundred sixty nine programs were convinced he'd ran into some sort of technical issue and was forced to fix it. Six programs believed he was fulfilling a bodily function. Thus the Geth Platform yet to be named "Myriad" would act as if a trap was set for it. Putting out FTL-speed messages to the other platforms it designated one to chase after the man with haste and be ready to upload to a new platform and two platforms to follow a safe distance behind it. Myriad itself would activate it's ownitool, becoming invisible from sight, and begin coming an alternative way around. The aim was to flank the organic in another of the laboratory doors.
Time would tell if the plan worked or not, but five hundred ninety two programs believed it the most efficient course of action.

Satisfying thunk went off as the EMP did its magic, only heard it as a background noise though, I was elbow-deep in the reprogramming of the console, could see them slowly approaching now.
Ain’t happy times, but whatcha gonna do about it?
Kept furiously typing on the project keyboard, swiping with my omni tool whenever necessary.
A few thousand voices poured into the geth scout platform detailing the human's action. While most of the galaxy thought of Geth as flashlight- headed synthetics the truth was that Geth were software. Minds that could travel from one platform to another, provided it held the necessary memory capacity. In this sense Geth did not have vehicles like other species. Merely platforms that served different purposes. When Darrell Inari sought to hack a geth ship he was fighting a battle of arithmetic and calculations with thousands of Geth. His chances of success, while a non-zero percentage, were marginal at best.
Opening the side door of the laboratory the Geth Scout platform would head in a non-linear path towards Inari. Five hundred seventy six programs concluded that such a movement plus the already-in-use tactical cloak would aid in preserving structural integrity, despite revealing the platform's presence by opening the door. When the Geth Scout Platform got close enough it would fire up it's omnitool and let loose a spray of cryogenic material commonly referred to as a "Snap Freeze".

Wasn’t looking to hack the whole joint, didn’t need that, what I needed was to cause a bit of a ruckus and put a bit of the heat away from me. Or at least make it harder for ‘em to come at me all at the same time, point was? I ain’t the biggest baddest guy in town here and I honestly ain’t got all that much intel on dem Geth.
But who had these days? Had no clue what their capabilities were. Managed to lock down a portion of this section, would force them to take a different route and that meant more t- looked to the left and saw the door open.
Had a bad feeling about it, really bad, doors don’t magically open themselves, not in this- feth. cloak.
Should have thought about it immediately, I had one of my own, should have been my very first thought, but I can’t complain about that now. Had other things in my mind. Immediately after looking to the left, I shrugged and looked back to the display, as if I was ignoring it.
.
.
Half a second later I pushed away from the console, and dropped an EMP nade, rolling away from the danger. Didn’t manage it quite that, fether hit me partially with some cryo-shit, took away half of my shield again.
Geth platforms do not roll. They hop. So hop back I do, heading backwards away from the danger. Didn't manage it quite that, organic hit me partially with some EMP-crap, took away half of my shield again.
Crap.
Letting it's omni-tool go to work the Geth Platform would drain the shielding of the human into it's own, then fire from it's Katana.
