The Countenance of the Prophet
At a touch over 6 feet, Demetrius' frame is an imposing figure by human standards. He tends to dress in dark, heavy colors, primarily to maintain his "doomsday prophet" look. After all, you can't be playing the part of Messiah without a bit of fashion sense. Chromosomal testing while under arrest places his age at approximately 34-37 years. He is uncertain to the specific number--too much bouncing between star systems to keep track.
In terms of personality, Demetrius is actually somewhat altruistic, despite his normal "work" as a Dark Prophet. He sincerely believes that unifying large numbers of humans on the fringes and preparing them for the next grand conflict is a necessary role. Although he can be violent and often works to elevate himself, most outside observers wouldn't believe the fact that he actually isn't that concerned for his own survival--provided he can actually put his life and death to some good use.
He is, however, an almost continuous liar, primarily to keep any useful information about himself near others. And to keep up the illusion that he's actually remotely certain of his course of action. Not that he has a long-term plan. At this point, he's just gathering strength and loyal minions for the hell-storm he believes to come.
On a final note, he seems to genuinely spend a great deal of time in meditation. No one has actually ascertained his reasons for this practice, or if he's not just delusional. Most police and security agencies around the galaxy believe him to be a simple delusional Biotic who's gone off the deep end. He thinks he's seen the oncoming storm, and needs to build a boat.
THE WAY OF THE PROPHET
Fate was not terribly fortunate to the man known as Demetrius Veus. Son of Augustus Veus and his wife, Minerva, Demetrius was born with Biotic talent and a father in a political position (colonial governor on a small, unimportant planet in the outer sectors). When his son's gift was discovered, many member of the colony believed it was an ill omen--after all, many such children were supposedly born because of accidents with element zero, why wouldn't one be a predictor of it? What if Augustus forced the mutation upon his child, as part of some experiment? If the Governor couldn't take precautions to prevent EZ contamination on his own, kin, how could they be certain anyone was safe?
Rumors led to instability, instability gave way to violent riots and vandalism from some of the colonists, and Augustus resigned and fled the small colony his people were on, citing "mental health and excessive stress" as the reason for his resignation, as opposed to the anti-biotic sentiment that basically force his family into exile. He then fell in with a group who promised to train and help his son, provided Augustus used his remaining connections to help them launder money and goods.
Demetrius was then initiated into a Biotic cult/organized criminal operation known as a Black Hole Hearts, a group centered around using biotic enforcers and offering them medical support and training in exchange for working as muscle and moving Red Sand in large quantities across space. He became a part-time smuggler and muscle-man for them. However, the whole operation weighed heavily on his heart. He didn't enjoy the violence, or the fact that the drugs they moved were so dangerous.
After several months of working with the organization, he attempted to leave--at which point they threatened his parents' wellbeing. Reacting poorly to that, he decided to play the part of mole, letting Citadel higher-ups find out small leaks in the operation's supply chains. Eventually, he was able to convince the security corps to push on and capture a majority of the group, even ensuring his own anonymity. However, the Citadel officials weren't able to protect him or his family adequately enough to keep everyone safe. Augustus ended up in prison, and Minerva was killed in the crossfire when the Hearts fought against the police.
Demetrius practically vanished from the galactic scene, only about twenty when this all happened. Over the next Ten years, things starting getting more unstable. Gang wars, race wars, the Geth having some sort of crazy-as-all hell insurrection, then a bunch of those weird collector guys start wrecking shit for no reason. Still, the more he witnessed, the more he realized that the Council on the Citadel wasn't going to do squat about this. So, that left it to the guttersnipes to defend themselves. Slowly, over time, he began developing intel connnections and a plan.
The Galaxy was going to get a new Prophet...even if it didn't ask for one. The Crimson Brotherhood....it would soon take its place in this galaxy. With Demetrius at the helm, for the time being. And If the Galaxy didn't like it, then they could fight him for it....
