Year 2186,
First month of the second epoch,
SSV Ravenwing,
Drifting in an undetermined area of space in the Horsehead Nebula.
"Oh, shut up..."
Ryori rolled her eyes, but she was smirking despite herself. She was currently using the private vid comm in her room on the SSV Ravenwing, where she was lounging on the soft couch that was fixed to one of the walls. The man on the holograph before her was giving her his trademark cheeky grin, the one he usually gave when he teased her -- one of his favorite pass times. Given that he was one of the very few people in the galaxy who could get away with doing such a thing without losing a vital body part, he liked to milk the privilege for all he could.
"One of these days I'm going to actually shove my boot up your ass. I hope you're preparing for that." Ryori's smirk widened a bit as she gave him a playful look. Noxu, of course, would know that she wasn't serious. Maybe. It was hard to tell with her, sometimes. But, if there was anyone in the galaxy that Ryori was especially careful of trying never to hurt, it would be this man. She had already hurt him once, in a moment of unthinking stupidity... something she still had not forgiven herself for. Sometimes, she wasn't sure she ever would be able to. Even on vid comm, Ryori was sure that Nox could still see the shame firmly rooted beneath the joy she felt talking to him, and even more sure that he could sense a bit of hesitance in her voice at times. If he could, he hadn't brought it up yet. She was feeling terribly insecure, an emotion she wasn't particularly used to feeling.
Mending their friendship was a delicate and tedious process. Only time would tell how things would come out, and Ryori hated the uncertainty. It had been roughly a month and a half since they last saw each other, had come fully clean with each other and began the healing process. Since then, they'd only spoken on vid comm once every so often, typically no more than twice a month. The chats were certainly helping, but even her crew could see that she was becoming more irritable each week.
After a moment of silence, Ryori spoke again. Her voice was sincere and hopeful, though also a bit timid. "So... I was thinking that we should find some time to see each other again, soon. I don't have any assignments for a bit, and Abel has been not-so-subtly hinting that I should take some shore leave..." For that matter, so had Castien, Rehoni, Fleinn, and a few other of her closer crew mates, but she'd not say so. She let the option hang, waiting to hear his response. Ryori had tried to be sensitive and let him come to her when he was ready to, but she couldn't deny that she missed her best friend. She figured she could at least test the waters. He might say no... or he might not.
